For the record, Bo's "injury" was a degenerative bone disease that affected his hip. Most injuries that I have been aware of in the anabolic steroid arena have been to ligaments, cartlidge, and muscle tears, but rarely bone.
Most athletes I've been around that juiced exhibited noticable changes, especially from one year to the next as they cycled into use. Athletes like Bo and Herschel didn't do that. They were muscular at an early, prepubecent age.
In Bo's case, I can say for certain that he never had many of the visible side effects that I've seen with athletes I knew to be using. (acne on the back and arms, rapid muscle gain, mood changes, bloating during off-cycle, etc. ) Granted, none of the
other athletes I knew were of the caliber of Bo, but they all experienced many of those those signs.
You must remember, Bo was 6'0" , 200 lbs and had 32" thighs at the age of 16. He wasn't "ripped" in the same sense of the athletes you see that aggressively weight train. Bo was just naturally big at an early age.
