Republicans think government is free. They want all of its benefits but don't think they ought to have to contribute anything.
But wasn't a huge factor in the fiscal cliff the republicans insisting on spending cuts, doing the opposite of what you say? And isn't one of the biggest current republican planks the opposition to government health benefits?
You win this argument, dude, I have no idea. I feel like the fiscal cliff was no big deal and was largely a CNN invention. I did t pay attention. I wouldn't be surprised if I am wrong and the republicans were clamor ing for more spending.
Republicans say they want cuts but they only want to cut shit like PBS, and drops in the bucket. The last thing a politician wants is no enemy, Republicans need abortion to be legal, they need a fictional army of do nothing mooches to rile their base up and get them mad and scared. Democrats the same thing, except they need to make the poor believe republicans hate them. Then when the cameras are off they all go out together and have drinks and hookers and laugh at how stupid we all are and count their money.
when pressed the Republicans, whose entire argument centered around spending cuts, could not name a single cut they were willing to make. republicans talk a good game but when the opportunity to step forward and name their cuts, they refused. in fairness, neither did the dems. that said, the dems never ran on spending cuts. the dems ran on tax increases, which is what they've accomplished.
