Did Hester make any plays last night?

Hester was definitely impressive. Not great, but he looked pretty good to me.

    9 carries for 40 yds.

If this kid stays at fullback, he isn't going to carry the ball 9 times for the rest of his career. I say, way to make the most of it, Jacob.

I disagre. If Hester can make positive yardage consistantly he will carry the ball. I remember when we played Michigan State, they had a fullback that was used to carry the ball.

Ally Broussard also ran up the back of his o-lineman a couple of times. Lay off Jacob Hester...regardless of anyone's dislike of Evangel, Jacob is wearing the purple and gold and is an LSU Tiger. He's also a true freshman who is seeing playing time on special teams. Jacob will be a fine player for LSU before he's career is over.

Don't get me wrong. I'd love to see what Steltz could do w/ the football in his hands. I thought that Tommy Banks never got the carries he should have.
But the fact of the matter, is that nowadays, fullbacks are blockers.
It's like having an OL in the backfield (or, in David Jones' case, a TE). Very, very few teams run their fullbacks any more. I don't recall Steltz getting a touch since he's been here.

What did you think of Broussard, 2 for -6 yds, and Spadoni, 5 for 7 yds?

Hester did just fine for his first game at RB!

Some of you guys need to get a life and lay off these players...

Steltz is a blocker, PERIOD. Hester has good hands and can probably be a good one back, and once he learns the blocking schemes can pick up the blitz. Saban is giving him touches because he sees something he likes.

Saban named Vincent, Addai, and Hester as the running backs who had outstanding games.
