Luck is the name of the game for a NC game - think about it... We were very injury free last year by my standard and we had every key position filled with super talent... We made it to the Sugar Bowl due to some luck as well. If Jared Lorenzen doesn't throw the ball straight up in the air to a Florida defender after UK had won the game in the 4th quarter...? Syracuse shows up for a game to beat ND...? Eli and the Rebs slither past Vandy in the 4th quarter...? Luck is important, but I like Defense too...
I think anytime you have a loss in the regular season, it requires a little "luck", "good fortune", "the stars aligning", or whatever to have shot at the end. It puts you in the position of needing help from other teams. And in the era of the BCS, that's even more magnified. What if USC hadn't laid an egg against Cal? Or what if someone else on their schedule had one more win or someone on yours had one more loss. You guys only finished 16/100ths of a point ahead of USC in the BCS. Without a little "luck" (stuff beyond your control) happening, you guys are on the outside looking in. None of this is to say you didn't deserve your championship. You guys had an awesome team by year's end and made the most of your shot at the title. I was pulling for you as a fellow SEC school, so this isn't about rivalry. Just don't be looking for things to be offended by.
Nothing lucky about that ass-whooping LSU put on Awbarn last year. I don't expect AU to get any luckier this year, either...
