1. I think maybe we should wait until we face a better team to see how the offense operates, before we go replacing an offensive coordinator whose offense is clicking out well over 40 ppg and 500 ypg. The cupcake schedule does play a factor in it. It keeps us from passing later in the game because we're blowing out the other team, and Miles isn't a dick. We're not going to Okie St or FSU anyone because our coach isn't a dick.

Let's see what happens against AU. Of course, if LSU blows them out, they'll go into the category of cupcake. Then we have Towson. Then finally South Carolina. So maybe we can gain some idea then?

Or we can just watch the games and figure out, dam, we're pretty good. We're so much better on offense so far this year it isn't even funny. But all people do is look at stats. For one thing, even the stats are better...but apparently not 'better enough'. But the main thing is, we throw on first down, we throw on third down (successfully), we throw over the middle without having to gasp for breath when the QB lets it go, and we run the ball whenever we dam well please, because there's no longer 8 in the box, because we pass better. It's really pretty obvious.
  2. Boy how distance makes the heart grow fonder. I remember people being critical of Jimbo's predictability and boring offense. Many were glad he left.
I guess many fans love anyone who isn't LSU's O coordinator (except Crowton).
  3. SS, serious question for you.

Had LSU beaten Alabama in the BCSNCG last season, would you be worried about our offensive coordinator/QB/anything you can think of?

Last season, we were a QB away. You're on record here saying the QBs last year were good, which hurts your cred. But 99% of the planet realizes we were a QB away last year. So now we have a QB.

If there's anything that concerns me, it isn't only scoring 7 offensive TDs on average. It's giving up 2 defensively to UNT and Idaho. The main reason I'm NOT really concerned about it is because we gave up 0 to the best team we've played to date. BUT...I am more concerned about the defense due to injuries/suspensions/youth in the backfield.

The offense is the least of our problems right now. It's not like we have a lot of problems period, but the offense ain't one of em.

And what Winston said. After AU in '06, people were ready to hang Fisher. How selectively we remember.
    StaceyO likes this.
  4. I was not one of those people.

Jimbo has done pretty well for himself, because of his past accomplishments. I believe, more people than not, have a very favorable opinion of Jimbo.
  5. I like Jimbo as a person. Very nice guy, nice family, nice story. He wasn't a great OC at LSU.
  6. Wasn't a great OC at FSU, for that matter.
  7. I'm just going to have to disagree with you on that one Fish.

The problems in the NCG went way beyond the QB. You could have had Drew Brees in there and we would have still lost.

IMO ... our offense was designe for JJ, so there was limited posibility to begin with. JJ wanted to be the next Cam Newton .. .only problem was .. JJ couldn't throw like Cam Newton. Even when Lee was in, we were running the "JJ offense" minus the option.

CLM should have added some different looks and plays that were out of character to what we ran all year. That is what Saban did .. and it worked.
  8. Be happy with what you have this year. Mettenberger is one of the better quarterbacks we have had in awhile. I think we are the 2nd best team in the nation behind Alabama. The biggest question is will we continue to get better because if we do not progessivly get better through the course of the season we will end up losing to Alabama... My only concern this year is Alabama and maybe Florida and Miss. State....
  9. I watched most of the Bama/Arkansas game, and Bama did not look very sharp. Arkansas was horrendously bad, though.
  10. I honestly think that Idaho would beat Arkansas.
