I visit here from time to time but not a poster. As an old timer, I remember the days when there were great coachs. And a great coach is a great coach, no matter what school. Coach Paul Dietzel qualifies as a great man and a great coach. So sad that there are not more like CPD today. Great article, I read it all! Thanks! I was 6 yrs. old in '58 and listened to all the games on the radio, when John Ferguson and Walter Hill were the voice of the Tigers. Good memories.
I have had the great opportunity of spending a lot of time with Coach Dietzel. He is one of the few men I have ever admired. Not only for his love of LSU, but his love of his wife and child and grandchild, but of his mere love of life. I have never met more of gentleman than he. He has wonderful stories to share and loves to tell them. He gave me a printed copy of his Tiger Stadium painting and I treasure it. America needs more men like him!
