I have always said Les would have been better off not to have made the remarks that he did simply because USC will certainly use them against us should we face them in the NC game. You can bet they will have his statements posted in their locker room. You just don't give your opponent ammunition to use against you.

I, for one, am glad Les said what he did... We've all had those thoughts and I'm glad we got a coach that's not afraid say it and put the ol' twig-n-berries out on the chopping block... It'll haunt him if we don't perform this season, but hats off (no pun intended..nevermind it was intended..lol) to CLM for stepping up and saying what everyone's been scared to say.

I’ve been trying to restrain myself from commenting on this because it's been discussed to death but I cannot take it anymore and must speak out. I have three opinions Miles’ comments.

    1. The point of Miles comments were 100% accurate. Parity between conferences and paths to the MNC are very uneven in college football. Even if you don’t believe the SEC is a tougher conference to get through undefeated (which is a big aside) the existence of a conference championship game alone is enough to validate his point. Did he say it in the in the most “politically correct” way?...no. But who cares? I’ll take a guy who tells it like it is over “coach speak” any day.

    2. This in no way affects our team on the field. I love the argument that this fires up other teams to play us. Really? Do you really think that's not going to happen anyway? Come on! If a coach can't fire up his team to play a top 5 program than I doubt they really had a chance anyway. Even beyond that we don’t play any of the teams the he so called “insulted” anyway. The only thing this does is give the media pundits something to talk about during a slow news time and generate internet message board chatter. {irony} Basically it just gets fans fired up for football season which is a good thing.

    3. The increased pub only helps LSU. The more times LSU gets mentioned the better for all involved. Rankings and individual awards all come from hype and name recognition. The more LSU gets talked about in the press the better chance we have of higher rankings and individual player awards. People vote for the guy they’re heard of not really on talent. Look at Quinn vs Russell. Quinn couldn’t even hold Russell’s jock (proven on draft day) but the media had him hyped as Heisman candidate.

Some of you will never be happy no matter what and I get that. But come, if we must lets find other things to complain about other than a straight shooting coach that has confidence in his team. I'll even help ya. How about the inability to get any traction on signing a top 4-5 star QB this year?

    That is all...

That really IS all...you said it, and I agree 100%.

Who cares if it's bulletin board material? Great!

Can't summarize it any better than pharpe did. :thumb:

As Swerved wrote, I'll take Les's "Let 'er Rip" manner of speaking over the standard blah blah coach speak any day of the week.

Yeah...I think the same way the rest of my LSU brethren do on this matter...LSU has the SEC locked up this year, and are playing through a WAYYYYY tougher schedule than USC ever dreamed of having conference-wise...Les Miles was just using a tool of speech that should be more common in football-BRUTAL HONESTY! I LOVE IT!!!
