that would be the case if it were to hit farther east as previously projected but the eye will now hit much closer to new orleans.....it was never projected to hit west of us. This is worst case scenario than previously expected and it could slam new orleans into the ocean if it moves a tad west.

Yeah the projection is for it to still turn north, and then slightly N-NE by landfall, which still projects to Mobile or ever so slightly west of Mobile.

Well whether it's us or someone else down the coast, this thing's gonna be a problem. I would feel too secure, you know how quickly the Russians change direction. Anyone reading this who is displaced by Crazy Ivan, you have my sincere sympathy. Good luck to us all.

Hey Jetstorm, You may know a heck of a lot more about hurricanes than me as I only know what I've heard. And what I heard was the actual worse scenario was a NE moving storm that also comes ashore in arond Terrebone Bay and heads a little NE, thereby backing the River up into New Orleans and then pushed Lake pushes the Gulf and Lake Bourne into Lake Ponchartrain and then the counter clockwise winds dump Lake Ponchartrain into New Orleans.

I'm sure they are all bad but Camille was originally projected to do just that for a while and I remember reading some of the scenario's, it was real bad.

This actually happened in Chauvin in 02 when Lili hit! The storm surge pulled up the entire vaults and left them on the streets. So it is truly possible.

    I have a question?
People have talked about this nightmare scenario happening for years.
Instead of waiting for this to happen why don't they prepare and try and fix some things such as re-enforcing levees, etc.

Its just a matter of time before this will happen, maybe in my lifetime or not but it would be better than having tens of thousands dying one day.

Sadly I'm sure its a matter of funding?
