The problem is Crowton did nothing to coach these qb's... JJ may suck at the read option but he sure ran it effectivly last Saturday, we can say it was against Kentucky but the running game didn't look All American in that game either.. We're seeing better routes by the receivers with better seperation this year, alot has to do with play design. We won't know what JJ looks like in this years offense.. We can look at stats all we want but keep in mind that last year JL played a complete game when JJ was injured and his stats looked pretty bad and his play in that game actually looked worse. Crowton is gone and alot of JL's success has to do with how he's being coached now..
I think when JJ said "country" he was referring to the College Football World ONLY Like when we say "man that Defense is the best in the country" or he is the best athlete in the country" we are talking college football, not NFL, Olympics, etc. And certainly don’t think that JJ meant he personally went through more than families of injured or killed military. I can’t believe that ANYBODY would even go there in comparison and assume that’s what he meant :dis:
Well, I can only hope that after what JJ was able to do in the pro style set, in games like Alabama & Texas A&M last year where he showed to be successful, that both Stud & CLM saw what we saw. And moving forward would use him to the strength of the "Offense" and cut that option read crap. But 4 of his 5 snaps Saturday were all option reads - so I guess they don’t see it our way I just think they want another weapon in the huddle, and feel that JJ coming in and mixing in the option read is that weapon. Dont like it, or the 2 QB system.
jjs delivery has to be sped up by a lot. like cut in half. as well as his reads. he waits too long before even beginning his windup.
His comments have always shown a me-first mindset and an inability to take responsibility for bad decisions and bad performances. He deserves all that he gets. This is a racial thing (from the team's vantage point).
There are cfb players that were paralyzed from injuries received in games and also off the field. Yeah, his ordeal was horrible for him, but is it the 'worst'? I can think of a few examples, one being what Chad Jones has been through (granted it happened AFTER his cfb career, but still..). Quotes from anybody can and will be taken out of context by the media (to propogate dissension and *create* a story when there is none), and there's nothing fans seem to like better than nitpicking these things, reading into statements made ("oh yeah, but when *insert player/coach* said *insert quote* his eyes shifted to the left therefore he's lying, his voice dropped/rose", etc etc etc.). Knowing this, and you know TPTB at LSU does too, it would have been better if they had held off allowing any JJ interviews at all at *this time*. He still has the misdemeanor charges and possibly a civil suit in the future, granted probably nothing will be done on either until football season is over with, but a wrong word here or there could have a bearing on those as well. Why give the media more fodder to throw on the fire?
Jj gets mentally shaken. The clock starts clicking 5....4....3... And he is looking around trying to figure out what to do oblivious to the time ticking away. He has great physical talent but isn't a natural qb. Lee doesn't have the physical talent jj has but he has the coolness under pressure to realize the clock is ticking all the while pointing out where the blitz is coming from and checking to another play. Jj is great at using his physical talent in running the ball to get out of trouble but when he has to think his way out of trouble he chits his pants.
I get what you are saying, I don’t want to split hairs here, obviously I was saying that in regards to people comparing it to everyday life (Military & Deaths & etc.) I am a reasonable person and I do not attempt to make things more than they really are. I had no problem with his comments because I took them for what they were and gave him the benefit of the doubt of what he really meant. I also agree he should have never spoke with the media, if anything he should have issued a statement that was approved by LSU PR first. If anybody boos it’s just pure ignorance and makes the entire fan base look awful.
IMO ... popping off a pro-style offensive play with JJ is the ultimate weapon. The Defense are all thinking run-option .... stack the box ... to have JJ take advantage of that and throw the ball could take a defense apart. But alas .. they don't do that.
