I was born in 1970. My dad hated bama. He hated bama with a passion that he has installed in his boys. You can't love lsu without hating bama. The more you love lsu the more you want to see them destroy bama. Bama is the one team that stands in the way, every floppin year, to lsu glory. Beat bama and half the battle is won. I would take 30 lashes with a bullwhip if it would ensure a lsu victory over bama. I think my dads headstone should say LSU forever- To hell with bama. He will have his old asz pissed off all day on 11-4 and if lsu loses you won't be able to talk to him for a week.
I admire your enthusiasm and deep seated conviction. This is why I often refer to the Crimson Tide as the "flagship" university in the SEC. Many teams in the conference have similar feelings, possible suffering many beat downs for endless decades and would like to reverse some of that anguish. However I truly believe it's better to simply forgive and move forward and perhaps cultivate a second SEC team that you feel could be the 2nd most interesting team in terms of excitement and emotion vented. Do you see the parallel in thinking here? Just in case Les is having one of those 10-2 years.
Nobody else does. Alabama has 5 NCAA championships, LSU has 42 to lead the SEC. http://fs.ncaa.org/Docs/stats/champs_records_book/summaries/combined.pdf
In 1979, I was 11 years old. Alabama (10-1) beat Penn State (11-0) in the Sugar Bowl to win the Bear his 5th National Championship. And so my dislike of Bama began. (although I always respected the Bear)
I was there. All time classic. Personally I think that was Penn St. best team in the Paterno era. The following year Bama was undefeated and took a good Lou Holtz Arky team apart for number 6. ( yes red, I know that messes with your math) All my family live around State College, so I'm well aware of the impact these programs have had on each other. This latest 2 year series caught some of the newbies unaware. Penn State brought some great programs south through the 70's and 80's.
Auburn is #2 in haterd. Alabama schools have screwed us so many times it will take a lifetime to pay back Alabama for the pain.
The 70's were kinda hard on all our opponents. Just had your number in the 80's and 90's in BR. In the new millennium you have benefited from better coaching and great recruiting began to pay dividends. Tell you for a fact, been a strange and twisting series over the decades. But this year we owe you.
