"We're not going to be underdogs in this game. Everybody is going to expect us to win. I hope that the players have the proper respect for the people we're playing against. We certainly do as coaches, but I'm going to spare you all of that. " Maybe to get them fired up a bit to test LSU's ability in this first game. I don't know if Saban plays those mind games. I think he doesn't want to be a Lou Holtz, if ol Lou was giving the press conference you would think you were about to recive one of the biggest whoopins in your life by ULM.
nahh, Saban is a pretty straight shooter...i think he just didnt want to go into the "ULM is a talented team...that is able to put up an upset"...i bet coach speak gets pretty old.
