But it happens. The blocked fieldgoal...1 play that would have ended the game right then and there. Colt David's missed field goal....1 play that with the blocked field goal would have won the game for LSU. It happens ALL the time. 1 play can make the difference between a win or a lose.
I don't know if JJ "would" have made a difference yesterday because we don't know what the kid can do. And since JJ has no experience is probably why we didn't see him yesterday. But, and there usually is a but, JJ should have some experience. When Hatch got hurt and JJ became our back-up, JJ should have played "significant" time in the Tulane game. If for no other reason, what if Lee gets hurt? I think the best thing that happened to LSU last year was when Flynn got hurt and RP played the MT game. RP got the experience which we needed for the SECCG when Flynn was hurt again. If JJ would have played in the Tulane game and played well, we might have seen JJ yesterday for a series or two. Hopefully JJ will see some time against Troy.
Im more concerned about who will play QB next season. It is looking like JJ will not be ready and Lee is getting worse game by game.
I wouldn't say he's getting worse but he certainly isn't getting better. I'm also more concerned with next years starter. Hatch doesn't have the tools, Lee doesn't seem to have the brain, JJ will have no experience and Sheppard will be a true freshman. We could end up in the same boat again.
This is exactly what I have been trying to say. Sadly, and I know most of you dont want to hear it but CLM is the blame for this. CLM had to know RP was a high risk kid and he should have been better prepared.
It's not like he wasn't recruiting quality QB's. You get some and you lose some, that's the way it works. Bama is undefeated and ranked #1 yet their QB sucks, so should Bama fans be dissing Saban? Not many QB's wanted to come to LSU since the job was RP's period. All he had to do was stay out of trouble and no matter who Miles recruited they were riding the pine. It just happened that RP was brain dead and all those that passed on LSU because of RP were not their to take his place.
OSU was supposed to challenge for the NC, Pryor has shown his youth at times. However if Sheppard is as good his future is bright.
I don't have anything to add to this thread, except agreeing with what Crip said. But how can people STILL be finding excuses for Lee? I've seen bad quarterbacks and I've seen freshman quarterbacks. Lee is somewhere in between. Oh well.
Let's hope so. He's getting a lot of hype, though. We need to be realistic as much as we are hopeful he'll be the real deal. :geauxtige
