I have to be very honest. I am very depressed today, Not because of a USC win. I still think USC would have 3 losses had they been in the SEC....
This might come off a bit dramatic, but I am just going to post my thoughts here...
My entire life as a person from Louisiana, and a die hard LSU fan all we have wanted was a chance to play for a National Title in Football. For us LSU fans and our team to get some respect nationwide, on and off the field, for our state and our people to get some respect, even if a football team had to get it for us. To be able to pick up a USA today and read about how great LSU was this year. How they earned their shot at the National Title. All the tailgate party discussions, the Dinardo years, Curly Hallman, the stress of Saban to the NFL rumors..
It was supposed to be our turn in the spotlight, it was supposed to be All LSU all the time.
Now I have essentially blocked myself out of National Media, I did not watch the USC game, I did not watch Sports Center, or College Gameday.... Because its all about how the Sugar Bowl is a joke, LSU and OU are jokes...
It has really ruined what I had hoped this was going to be. Seriously I have been waiting for this moment my entire life as an LSU fan, I have been a season ticket holder for years, struggled to find the money for it. I travel to all the bowl games. I have been made fun of here in Texas because of my passion for LSU and my home state...
This was our turn for the spotlight our team earned its shot, they went 12-1 won the SEC. LSU clearly belongs there.
But all over the US today, people are once again dumping on our program and what we have waited for as LSU fans our entire life.
So yes, it has ruined it for me. Its not what I had hoped. Not the USC win. USC sucks. The fact we have clamored for a little respect. Sure some 18 year old kids had to get it for us. But being someone who if forced to live out of state, LSU football means much more then a football game. Its a chance for us to be proud. It means a lot.
Maybe I put to much into LSU football. It effects my moods, my work day everything. I really was looking forward to this moment, and it seems once again we have been dumped on because we played by the rules and the media did not like the outcome.
Sad thing LSU was lost in all of this, LSU deserved its shot, it got there fair and square, won its games, won its Conference.
I believe in my heart the winner on Sunday is the best team in the nation, the BCS did what it was supposed to do. But apparently it does not matter.
So yeh it F*&cking sucks, not because of USC because our moment, one we have waited for is not what we expected.
