So I was reading one of MSN's endless "best of" articles and see one called, "The 20 Craziest Donut Flavors in America" I got to #3 and fell in love..... It's in NO...anyone been there or had this one? Donuts and Sliders- Monte Cristo Donut Sammich.
Uhhhh . . . no. This does not appeal to me. If I am in NO, give me a hot beignet, please. Light dust of sugar and a cafe au lait. Or give me a quarter muff and a Barqs root beer. No donut sandwiches please. It's worse than chicken and waffles or taco pizzas.
Lol. I've done the Café Du Monde thing and it was awesome. I just like the sweet, savory, tangy combo here. I can eat a Monte Cristo sammich anymore, it's way too much food and bread but the donut I could handle. Chicken and waffles....meh, not so much. Taco pizza? Never had it, don't wanna. I do like a Southwestern-type fixings pizza.
I could see enjoying a glazed donut sliced in half with bacon in the middle but it seems like all the celebrity chefs have latched onto the donut as an outlet for whatever new craze they are trying to promote. I like chicken and I like waffles but not together. Every once in a while I will order the Mexican Pizza at Taco Bell.
Ewww. Don't get fancy with my donuts. In fact roll out some Pillsbury Hungry Jack biscuits, quarter them, drop in grease and dust with powdered suga and I'm good to go.
