1. It's an online university with hundreds of local "campuses", and it is accredited and considered to be one of the best of its genre. But it ain't a diploma mill . . . and it ain't cheap.

Coming back to LSU to finish his degree was being a role model. Working on a masters degree in his spare time while working a stressful job is being a role model. Tossin' a few boastful zingers at a cocky rookie is just typical Shaq banter. Did I overlook Shaq snobbing somebody?
  2. It cracks me up that Shaq somehow thinks it's his place to send that message.

cgiclair is right though. Shaq loves to poke fun all of the time, but sure doesn't like it when it's pointed back at him. But I guess he'll have plenty of opportunities to redeem himself in a couple of years when he puts on 80 pounds and plays 40 games a year and somebody dares to call him out on it.

Don't get me wrong, I like the guy sometimes. But people in [really big] glass houses...
  3. Have you guys read/seen anything saying Bynum is a cocky kid? Or a delinquent, like Shaq asserts? I'm seriously curious b/c I haven't read anything that has indicated that.
  4. I was simply quoting from the article. Shaq is one of my favorite humans on the planet. He is one of those guys who, if your TV is on mute and he appears on the screen, you break your neck flinging yourself over the sofa to hit the unmute button on the remote.

    Shaq is great...
  5. No...he'll be Dr. Shaq when he GETS the PhD. Until then, he'll have to answer to just plain Shaq.
  6. I think Shaq thinks a 17-year-old trying for the NBA is cocky. Delinquent is mild compared to the smack he's going to hear in the NBA. This guy is a center and will end up playing Shaq. Shaq is letting him know who owns the paint.
  7. Well it's a good thing Shaq's clearing that up. I'm sure the 17 year old thinks he's ready to play right away and hasn't watched Shaq's whole career or anything. :dis:

Seems weird that a Hall of Famer concerns himself with such things. But I guess that's in line with annointing one's self as a PhD after getting a master's degree from a school you don't have to actually attend.
  8. I bet that 17 year old will lace em up and try his damnest all 82 games though.

Something that the big PhD doesn't do....
  9. Well, I like Shaq. And I get his sense of humor. And I recognize the difference between street banter and arrogance. He was being funny.
  10. It was bad enough when we had people dissing James Carville on here a couple of weeks ago, but now Shaq gets called out on the carpet? Geez. He's a great Tiger, and I, too, am tired of seeing guys go straight from high school to the NBA. That was his message...with the typical Shaq swagger added in.
