I have been saying it since the OSU game and I get called an idoit and that I am trying to coach the team, and that I don't know as much as Saban does. Not saying that I do, but I KNOW this will not work. ITS A PROVEN FACT!
You are WRONG, just like Saban. Guess what? It is HARD to be a major college QB. And, it is even HARDER when you are coming in and out of a football game all day long. How in the hell is a freshman QB supposed to step up if he isn't getting the full game to get comfortable and settle in? How is he supposed to get used to what the defense has and is throwing at him? Get it? Pick ONE QB (Russell) and give him a whole game to show he can step up. That's the point.
Let JaMarcus play, he'll only get better. After 5 years, Randall is what Randall is, a good guy that just can't play in the SEC.
I agree. It was more of the timing of the pulling of Randall that perplexed me. I think you stick with the guy that's doing well. If things bogged down, then make the switch.
Did you read my entire post????? Didn't I say Russell should be the man? Didn't I say that I don't like a 2 QB system. Neither has shown what it takes and another drive or two a game isn't going to make a big difference. Randall just doesn't have it and Russell needs time to get it.
You beat me to the post on this one. It's definitely time for Coach Saban to get off the pot and name a starting QB...preferably Russell, because, like Rohan Davey a few years before him, the offense looks a whole lot less tentative when he's in there running the show. After that first drive, there were times when poor Marcus just looked lost out there. Add to that the fact that the kid simply does not have the arm strength to play QB at this level.
Saban, Randall and Russell will do their version of the Chicago Bears super bowl shuffle video ... aptly named the QB Shuffle!
