USC plays 11 BCS teams to LSU's 9
USC plays 6 BCS teams on the road to LSU's 4

If you had your choice, would you rather play Alabama at home this year or @ Alabama?

One component of 4 of the 5 of the BCS computers SOS formulas* takes into account, where the games are played, as playing on the road is tougher than playing at home.

*The 6th BCS computer (Wolfe) doesn't use a Strength of schedule in their formula.

High school and college games often hinge on "ATTITUDE." As such, coaches like Meyer and Spurrier can "Will" their teams to play above their talent level. The oddsmakers know this about coaches like Meyer/Spurrier. That's why I'm encouraged about CLM's recent posturings. It'll help the team develop some swagger and may be the difference maker in a game or two this year. I also like the comments attributed to some of the players at this point, as it reflects their expectations as realistic and their investment in the coach's systems. If the season plays out as we hope, the one thing that could derail us is injuries at critical positions, especially OL,WR and QB.

Today, I'll agree...come game time, I'll find a way to explain how we will win! (Harry Potter contacts me for prognostications)

Note that these odds were last updated last May 15. A lot will change after a few games.

since 1997 LSU has not been more then a 16.5 favorite against MSU in Starkville......during this same time LSU has won 9 out of 10 games, with the one loss in Starkville when LSU was favored by, you guessed it, 16.5 points.

6 out of 10 times the under won when these two teams played.

LSU has outscored MSU in Starkville 120-13 the last three games played there, with an average margin of vistory of 36 points.

LSU has never played on a Thursday night to open the season..........

If I was a betting man, I take LSU and the points.....and likely the under if it is 48 or higher.

What the hell does a 16 yr old kid from England know about american football. But I hope you do know him because it'll take some bull**** magic for those losers from Starksville to win that game.

You might find it worth the time to read the entire thread before posting? :thumb:

You'll notice, at the start of this thread I stated I'd take LSU and the points. But, I'll have to agree, it would take some "bull**** magic" for the Dawgs to win the game...heck, more than that if you think about it.

i understand generally how they come to determine that usc has the toughest schedule. i just disagree. averaging the difficulties of games is not the best way to do it for top teams. which is the tougher schedule? usc playing 13 games against teams ranked 20-30 or lsu playing 6 games against top 10 teams and 7 games against teams ranked 30-50? obviously, i believe for top teams it is the latter schedule that has the highest likelyhood of producing the worst record. now, if you replace usc and lsu with kentucky and arizona and the schedule difficulty reverses.

And what 6 top ten teams does LSU play?

The fact is, LSU has never played 6 final poll top ten teams in one year, nor has any other school for that matter.

In 2004, USC played 3 top ten final poll teams (OU, Cal & VT,) and if you can find another team that has played more than 3 in a single year, I would be very surprised.

As for LSU playing the next 7 opponents ranked 30-50, that would have to include Mississippi State, Ole Miss, Tulane and Middle Tennessee State.

I seriously doubt any of those teams make it into the top 50 of any college football poll.

With that said, your argument doesn't hold water.
