1. They all have ability when we sign them. Gonsulin was grat in HS and wasn't Culp supposed some kind of high school All American? Kickers are a strage breed. Remember Wade Richey? Couldn't kick the ball over the center's butt at LSU but the 49ers signed him anyway and sent him to a sports psychologist. He tured out to be pretty good.
  2. I've never understood why we don't have a dedicated kicking coach. We have coaches for every other position, sometimes more than one, but for all of the talk about the importance of the kicking game, kickers are still not coached well at all. Heck, every team does it the same way, by starting practice off with special teams, afterwards the kickers go in and lift while the rest of the team practices.
  3. I don't think many coaches know anything about kicking.

  4. We now have four kickers for next year then with Culp, Gonsulin, this kid, and the D2 kicker of the year Cole Tracy.

Tracy hit on 81% of his kicks in his 3 years, including 27 of 29 last season. He was perfect on PATs.

Good sign, especially with Greg McMahon actually coaching yet unit now.
  5. So hire someone who was themselves a good kicker (and who has a degree in Sport Psychology).
