I think if we end up with Chavis (LB specialist), we may have a shot at one of the linebackers we were coveting. Either Bostic, Telfort or JJones.

With Walker (DB specialist), I think we can put the Jackson rumors to rest and hopefully solidify Myles to LSU.

Other than that, I don't know if it will effect recruiting very much.

We're not getting any of those LBs period, IMO.

Who the DC will have no bearing on if Jackson is a Tiger or not or if any of the LBs are Tigers. If a kid wants LSU he will come to LSU regardless. I dont see it making much difference unless its a kid he may have been working on already.

I think this is a fair statement.

But those linebackers are ones we have been working with most of the year (especially Bostic and Jones) and I doubt we have backed off one iota.

I doubt it, because LSU is in desperate need of LBs. Which is why I dont see the new DC making any difference on who we land or dont. Unless its a situation like Koening. Who was claiming a 5 star may have followed him. Thats what I meant about the new DC possibly making a difference in who we get or not.

The only way I see a new DC making much of a difference is if he already has a relationship with the recruit. Because otherwise, he won't have enough time to develop one.

So long as it is perceived as a good hire, it doesn't affect this year's class at all.

But, if there is a player already verbally committed (ala Janzen Jackson) who was starting to waffle a bit secondary to our poor season overall, defensive effort, and coaching rumors may suddenly feel a lot better about their decision if we bring in a respected DC and it may solidify their commitment. Do you guys not feel this would be the case?

That's what I was alluding to but some apparently feel we could promote Coach Lane to DC and Jackson would stay a Tiger.

My point is it won't matter who it is, so long as it is regarded as a good hire.

But yes, a perceived good hire should help solidify some recruits.
