Not in the sense that you asked - whether they are a DB or LB specialist.

Quite frankly, so long as it isn't a horrible hire I don't think it will make a difference with a single recruit.

If we get Chavis, do we have an out side shot at getting Marlon Brown, if Randle goes somewhere else? Before y'all start on me for asking that question, I know Chavis is an D. C. and Brown is a WR recruit. But Chavis Coached at UT and Brown is from Tenn. Will Chavis be the recruiter in the Tenn. area?

I doubt if LSU will assign a coach to Tenn. specifically since there are so few great players coming out of there most years. I'm wondering if Chavis recruited Georgia for the Vols as that is a tremendously fertile state and we seem to have made some inroads there the past few years. It would be nice to keep that going and even pick it up a notch.

And IMO the new DC can make a difference with defensive recruits, many of them might be split down the middle on 2 schools and the hiring of a guy who has continuously had his defenses in the top 2 or 3 in the SEC along with sending guys to the NFL could be the difference maker.

Jarvis Jones appears to be the player most likely to be swayed by this hiring since LSU is high on his list still.

Aha, but you said on the Jarvis Jones thread "Actually, he favored LSU until UF got in his ear about how bad our defense was. With this DC hire, we might be able to get him leaning our way again."

So, you think hiring "The Chief" may sway a recruit to come to LSU!

Tigergumbo is reporting that FSU has removed Stinson from their board which leaves LSU in his top two.

Not sure if Chavis may have an impact on his decision or if LSU will have enough scholarships available.
