The outcome leads to a celebration in Corvallis that gets out of hand. The next day, Oregon State students hold a mass rally and then decide to take the train 40 miles, and bring their parade to Eugene. It's not a good idea. Some get through the procession unharmed. But when classes let out, Oregon students find their campus has been invaded and a full-scale riot ensues. 1941: OSU 12, UO 7. Oregon State needed the victory to secure its first ever Rose Bowl berth. Eight days later, Japanese airplanes bomb Pearl Harbor and bring the United States into World War II. Due to a West Coast blackout, Oregon State plays in the first and only transplanted Rose Bowl, beating Duke in Durham, N.C. Because of the war, neither school fielded a football team in 1943 or 1944.
OSU's 55-15 loss to Oregon in the Civil War Friday in Reser Stadium was a total shellacking. Quarterback Justin Herbert, Oregon's most irreplaceable player, didn't take a second-half snap after suffering an apparent shoulder injury late in the second quarter. The Ducks threw two passes in the second half, and still outscored OSU 34-12. Oregon came within 14 yards of having two 200-yard running backs. Travis Dye had 33 carries for 199 yards, while C.J. Verdell 187 yards on 23 attempts. The Ducks averaged 6.3 yards on 62 running plays. the pac has 5 first year coaches, of those, Coach Cristobal's, 8-4 is the best record.
