The PAC 12 has some of the top rated offenses in college football because there is no defense being played. All the teams play each other and put up rediculious yards. What does that say? Are all the offenses that good or are all the defenses that bad? Somewhere in the middle I suppose.
The PAC, already a QB conference, is going to become even more offensive. Washington St. just hired Mike Leach Arizona just hired Rich Rodrigues June Jone and Mike Bellotti are both being considered for the Arizona St. and UCLA jobs. These coaches are all addicted to speed.
Nothing beats a good set of quality defensive linemen. You can have a bad qb be ranked down the list on offensive yardage and have the best phucking defense in football And make it to the championship game. Actually, the two best defenses in football are in the championship game. I think lsu has a better all around defense with bama a close second. Where are the countries best offenses? Not playing for a title. I hope the best for your ducks. The ducks are the best chance to keep USC in check. Get a defense to go with that high powered offense , duck, and you will sit on top of the polls every year.
Actually, Alabama and LSU finished with more points per game then Arkansas. SEC teams do enjoy scoring the football and arky does have a potent offense, but along with a decent offense, our defenses create scoring opportunities for the O, much shorter fields to pay dirt. Everyone will figure it out for themselves.
Belloti to ASU or UCLA? What's the deal with that guy? Why did he leave Oregon? Didn't he have a good gig there?
Mike Bellotti anointed Chip Kelly, as coach in waiting, the next season Mike became Oregon's AD. I don't think it was a good fit for Bellotti, he's a coach not a MBA,.. I feel he was pushed out the door, with controversy. He's good enough at ESPN, but it's clear he wants to coach again. UCLA wanted him before, I think he fits with ASU.
Speaking of ASU, Erickson never should have left Ore. ST. He got that program elevated to a point where Mike Riley could never take it. Couldn't duplicate that success in the low desert. Doubt Belotti could do it at UCLA, which is USC's little brother when it comes to football. Vice verca for basketball.
I disagree regarding Riley,... Ted Miller explains it well. Video: Riley on the hot seat? - Pac-12 Blog - ESPN
All I know is what I have seen. Riley is a mid-tier guy, at best. I will give him credit for taking a disastrous 1 or 2 win program to 5 or 6 wins, but the dude, even if you give him credit for what Erickson did, cannot sustain a high level. But I really don't care either way. I was surprised to see him as an assistant with the Saints while he was in between his Oregon St. jobs.
