Meaningless??? If LSU lost to ULM do you think we'd be talking about the Capital One Bowl?
Not worth the price of admission? 90,000-plus fans think they ARE worth the price of admission. I happen to be one of them.
What would I have said if LSU had been left out? I would have said, damn we should have beaten Florida in that very meaningful game.
LSU and USuck claimed to be champions? I don't give a rats ass who CALIMED to be champion. There was only one champion as agreed upon by the NCAA rules and that was LSU. USC can CLAIM all they want. They did not win nor share anything but the Rose Bowl championship. It is the pig-headed cattle who can't think for themselves and rely on the media to tell them when to wipe their asses that gave the USC CLAIM any legitimacy whatsoever.
What are you 5? It's ALWAYS been about politics and favorites...And always will be.
18th century, 21st century, 99th century, power corruption, money will ALWAYS be the root of all evil.
By the way...there is NO Santa Claus; the Easter Bunny is not real; the Tooth Fairy is a myth.

I apologize for taking up your time. I was under the impression that this board welcomed mature discussion.

Fine, we'll talk after Saturday. But even if Auburn, USC or Oklahoma loses, it doesn't change the fact that it COULD happen. If it is possible it could happen, then the issue needs to be dealt with. Just because the worst case scenerio hasn't happened yet (although some can argue it has), doesn't mean we should put our head in the sand and pretend there's no problem. I love college football, but I will never buy into the philosophy that a split National Title is a good thing.

Arbitrarily? I wouldn't say that. Decide a 4-game playoff, 8-game playoff, or 16-game playoff and do that EVERY year. That's not arbitrary. That's set. Right now we are arbitrarily leaving an undefeated team out of the National Championship.

You believe that, I've got something else to sell you.

Granted ANYTHING could happen. And IF they predecided on a 4 or 8-team playoff system that would change everything (for better or worse). I do believe that if a team beats Auburn, Cal, and Texas and goes unbeaten they couldn't help but voting them No 1 or 2.
But the reality remains that going from a BCS (Bowl system) to a playoff would be like going from a Democratic/Republican government to a Libertarian government. The distance from point A to point B is just too wide for that to happen anytime soon.

Which is precisely why we should have gone to a plus one model when it was proposed. It would have been a baby step, yet it would have helped out a TON this year.

But you do know why it didn't happen, right? The Bucks! Once somebody figures out how to appease the bowl people and they agree how to divvy up The Bucks it will happen.

Okay, One thing I gather on this thread is people want to know why we should care if
    Auburn gets stiffed or not.

    1) SEC, I know some of you don't like AU and could care less what happens but for god
sake, an SEC team to go undefeated and not make it to the championship game is flat
    out wrong.

    2) It could be us last year or next year left out, Look at our schedule next year.
If we go undefeated we could be left out without the SOS being a factor.
I think some of you will have different opinions if it happens to us next year.
Don't think USuck won't be #1 or #2 going into next year.
    ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I will also take the argument back up again that no one seemed to want to comment on.

The system as it stands now is horrible, You have conferences with championship games and some without.
USuck will always have the easy road because they play in an easier conference and
don't have that extra game to lose.

Also, Chris Fowler voted for USuck over LSU because they lost first and the game was
close even though Cal wasn't ranked ahead of Florida at the time.

The Cal coach let a secretary or assistant vote for him, they voted for Usuck because
they saw them play, he NEVER saw LSU play a game.

Under the system now, it doesn't matter who you lose to as long as you lose first and not last.

How many top ten teams did Auburn beat this year?
How many top 25 teams did Auburn beat this year?
How many of either did Usuck beat?

Case closed, I hope to god this doesn't happen to us next year! :dis: :(

Out here SC is considered the "Conservative University" and UCLA is seen as the "Liberal University" for whatever that is worth. ;)

I'm a conservative living out here, so I'll just have to put my political leanings on the back burner while I cheer for the Bruins to beat SC.
