It should be noted that not being drafted isn't the end of the world, It makes the posssibility of making an NBA team harder but not impossible. Some examples of current players who weren't drafted include:

    Ben Wallace (Detroit)
    Bruce Bowen (San Antonio)
    Reggie Evans (Seattle)
    Marquis Daniels (Dallas)

Underclassmen can return to college if they:

    1-Don't hire an Agent.

2-Don't take any money from an Agent.

3-PAY THEIR OWN WAY to NBA tryout camps. This includes airfares, hotel expenses, food, auto rentals, etc.

That's the problem, if an underclassman wants to be drafted he has to attend NBA tryouts and to do it at his own expense is impossible for almost all of them. There has been 1 or two players in the past who have paid their own way and not retained agents and returned to college but it's not something most can afford to do. That being said, many of these kids simply get poor advice as to their actual draft status. Let's face it, the NBA is truly a 1 round draft as ONLY the 1st rounders are given guaranteed contracts
and not many kids go into the draft early to try to get a second round
non-guaranteed deal with an NBA team.

In the end, it's the players fault if he listens to bad advice. They know the rules.
