Since returning, from that list, I gather the only one who has had any success would be Carroll. I don't think Spurrier will do much at USC, other then maybe their first East title in a couple years. Saban may do something, but we'll have to see how long Bama gives him. As far as Gailey, not very familiar with his accomplishments. Didn't Erickson (Miami) go to the NFL?
Hey, watch dat limb youre on... And South Carolina may have the worst history in NCAA football so if Spurrier does anything with them it will be a success.
Saban may leave for a school closer to family, but I don't think he'll leave Bama for another college program simply for the money. Everyone demonizes the man who revived LSU football though it's fairly obvious to me that these moves that he's made have hardly been about money. Sure, money played a part in the jump to Bama, and money didn't hurt the jump to the Dolphins, but there was more involved, like ego when he went to the Dolphins and a longing to return to the college game when he went to Bama. I think some of Miles' comments are a bit too inflammatory, myself. But that's kind of the guy's personality, and that is what it is. He's done well here and I hope he continues to have success. This Bama game will be very interesting.
I've said this before, but I'll digress, on a personal note, It really doesn't matter about Saban. I understand him saying it was available (the Bama job I mean), but heres the rub...He dumped the Dolphins to "take" the Bama job. Had it been a situation where the Dolphins dumped him etc, I don't think there would be "near" as much flak. I don't think many LSU fans would have cared at all, and many more would have supported him more than likely. So a lot of what he's getting he brought on himself. I don't blame anyone for taking a better job to improve things for his family and himself Nick Saban included. Its just the way he went about it. BTW, thanks Gator fan...beat them "damned" "Commodedoors" this weekend. :helmet::helmet::helmet::helmet::helmet::helmet:
He is making a bit under 3m this year unless his incentives kick in. I want to say the figure is 2.975. So, from 5.5 to that figure or from 5.5 to 4...no matter how you slice it, is a lot of money. Like any other coach he's moved up the chain. He didn't have an allegiance at any school he coached at yet. But, saying that doesn't indicate or predict the future. In my opinion, so what if he leaves after 5 years. The program will be in good shape for anyone who steps into the role. Why you have the Miami owner telling him to follow his heart how can one take that to be "dumping the Dolphins?" I see a few coming around to admit it, but far fewer than those who still want to make this about LSU vs Saban. It's about where he's coaching, not the road he took to get there.
Hold the press!!!! This may be the ONLY time I agree with TerryP, but I didn't see anything in that article that would lead me to say he is a jerk. It actually made me feel a little (and I mean VERY LITTLE, but still a little) respect for the Lying Bastard. Really though, I agree with you Terry (man that was weird), I saw nothing in that article to make ME angry with him, much less a neutral Florida fan. Thanks for the support though....I'll even take that from a Gayfer fan...I mean Gator fan. :thumb:
Some say the old ball coach may be at LSU if Miles heads to Michigan. He would be successful then FOR SURE.
Wrong! You forgot one, Duke! Steve was the head coach for the Duke Blue Devils! I would say that even USC east is a step up from that program! http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Steve_Spurrier
