I'm guessing because there are still a lot of people who have problems with mixed marriages themselves. People in mixed race marriage probably ARE color blind; it's the people outside of their marriage who may not be. But why do people get bothered with whether or not someone marries outside their race? I certainly don't care, any more than I care if two gay people love each other and want to spend their lives together. One of my husband's closest friends (who is black) married a white woman, and her parents (from Oregon) would not attend the wedding, and her dad would not give her away. My dad is floored by this because, as he says, "I think D'Wayne got the short end of the stick marrying Jen, not the other way around."
the best way to tell if you're not racist (as a white male I think) is if your daughter comes home with a black dude to date or marry and you dont have a problem with it. and for good measure, let's say its ving rhames: if you're ok with this, I think you're in the clear. for the record, id probably have an issue with the dude being black but im a racist.
People have a hard time dealing with the facts when the facts are not what they want them to be. You shouldn't dislike someone for telling the truth you should applaud them.
Auburn's coach Chizik announced the hiring of Gus Malzahn as OC. He had been "co" OC at Tulsa. The article on Al.com noted that he is a spread offense specialist, and that it was interesting that Tubberville fired a spread specialist (Tony Franklin) midway through the season this year. Looks like Auburn's alumni want the spread come hell or high water and got rid of coach Tubberville to do it. Interesting to have Malzahn back in the SEC. It was fun watching the implosion that was Arkansas when he was OC there.
