Didn't see this one coming!!! I find it very hard to believe that he was the best coach available, AU is still a good job. I'd like to hear what the AD and those involved in the hiring were thinking. I can only imagine the meltdown in war chicken land and the Mardi Gras atmosphere in gumpland. :huh::huh::huh:

Bama will be a lot tougher now... If they didn't before, they will own the state of Alabama in recruiting. I was at least counting on Auburn to dilute the talent in that state some.
I've read Tubby is going to remain in Auburn and "stay involved" with the program some way or another. Move over, Pat Dye. Won't that be a happy family?

I can't think of anything good for Auburn that this signifies. Tubberville only won 5 games this season and he resigned (cough) taking 5.1 million with him. Chizik has only won 5 games in the last 2 years and this is the best hire Jacobs could come up with? Tommy Bowden would have been better, Terry Bowden would have been better, their mother might have even been better. I must be blind in one eye and can't see out the other but I don't see this as being a good hire for Auburn. You have hired your Mike Shula. :insane::huh: Is this really just another smoke screen and Auburn has really hired Pete Carrol? Several black coaches would have been better hires, Turner Gill, Charlie Strong even Sylvester Croom but maybe not Tyrone Willingham. What will Auburn pay Chizik? I have heard 2-3 million and then there is the buy out someone will have to pay ISU. Is there any truth that it's in the works for Tubberville to take Jacobs place? There is something about this whole deal that doesn't add up other than it adds up to a $10Million mistake.
