These were their online polls: http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y15/HomerDaBraves/WhoIsNumber2.jpg http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y15/HomerDaBraves/WhoIsNumber2b.jpg This is what they broadcasted on ESPN: http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y15/HomerDaBraves/WhoIsNumber2c.jpg
Is this something you discovered or is this something that actually has some legs that is gaining some momentum?
I'm continually amazed at the number of fans, especially those of the Auburn persuasion, that believe ESPN is supposed to be a bastion of journalistic integrity. Any semblance of journalistic credibility that ESPN had accumulated was eliminated the day they were acquired by Disney/ABC. They are purely an entertainment network and their sole purpose is to profit by aligning programming with household exposure. I always laugh when fans rail on Corso, Herbsteit , Holtz and other ESPN talent, because they don't really call any of the shots or set the show's agenda. They're simply following the script/talking points that are pre-established by the show's production staff. It may not be fair, and the game of CFB definitely deserves better, but it is the harsh reality that we as CFB fans are altogether familiar with.
This is just like the fantasy basketball tournaments that pitted college basketball's greatest players and their repsective schools together. LSU beat UNC in the the voting but they gave it to UNC anyway and wrote a little story how they game went into OT. It's nothing big but it's a bush league move in my opinion
Is anyone really surprised by this ? Afterall, sports journalists are still journalists. Never let the truth get in the way of a good story.
I have been very slow to come around to this way of thinking. When Mark May stated that John David Booty should be a sure invite to NY for the Heisman I realized this had to be true. It is sad.
