I am excited for this hire. I loved Jimbo when he was here, but this softens the blow quite a bit. I thought Jimbo ran the offense pretty well when he was at LSU, now that he is gone I look forward to seeing a new direction. I don't think we are gonna be seeing 10 wide receiver sets or anything crazy, Crowton seems like a coach who utilizes what he has, and at LSU he has a little splash of every thing you need. A little power running game here, some 4 wide to take advantage of our back breaking speed there, MAYBE toss in some option here, and voila! our offense has every type of player an offensive coordinator would ever need to run a certain type of scheme. Fast QBs, powerful RBs, fast WRs, physical WRs, big athletic lineman, etc.

Great points. You tell me if we don't have the makings of what the Saints currently have on offense. We have a bruising up the gut back in Broussard (McCallister). We have speed to burn in Williams (Bush). We have a tall target in wideout LaFell (Colston). We have a great possession receiver in Doucet (Horn). We have a steady and efficient QB in Flynn (Brees). We have a myriad of other receivers (Dickson, Tolliver, McKnight, the Mitchell boys, Bajoie, Benton) to share the wealth (Henderson, Copper, Jones). Oh and we have this little dude named Holliday and a dude with a lot of heart and versatility in Hester. Oh the humanity! I say we have an operative go in and steal the offensive playbook from the Saints.
i think he has 7 kids. is that a mormon thing? like being old school catholic or what? i wonder if he has any soon to be college athletes in his family:wink:
Oregon’s offense was not exactly lighting up the scoreboard the last part of their season against the "great" PAC-10 defenses. I hope it was just for the lack of talent and if that is the case he will have a whole lot more to work with here.
