it isn't an NCAA violation, is it? if it is, I am way off base. But if it isn't, then YES, it should have been done at a more appropriate time, because no one on THIS team was involved, so why should they pay the price for that?
It is a question of ethics not NCAA rules, waiting until a more convenient time to report an ethics violation is unethical itself. Did you at one time work for Enron?
because if Pokey's alleged behavior continued and LSU had knowledge of the situation then it looks like LUS was condoning the coaches behavior. LSU didn't do this to the team Pokey did.
the point I am making is that if it isn't a violation, why not just wait 2 weeks? It is not a crime to be a lesbian. I am not 100% sure of what went down, as none of us are, but I just think it could have waited. I may be 100% wrong, though, as I am not very informed of what went down.
Nothing personal but you're missing the boat by a mile, you never wait for any reason to report an ethics violation, it's just not the right way to do things. Ethics violations should be reported immediately to those responsible with dealing with them. I could care less what Pokey's sexual preference is as long as her preference isn't for her players. It did come at a very unfortunate time, especially for the current players but it was the right thing to do.
I am not saying that reporting it is the wrong thing. I just think the university's decision to act on it when they did was wrong. In football terms, if Les Miles were to do something a little sneaky on Dec 27, they WOULD NOT open it up until after the National Championship game...
My last post on the issue.....If the above scenario was true then it would be unethical behavior on the part of those that waited, plain and simple.
The timing was Pokeys, you know. And the assistant should have been looking out for the players not covering up the head coach.
I guess the more I think about it, you guys are right. The Tiger fan in me just makes me realize how much the timing sucks, but if I were in those shoes, I would have done the same.
