1. Yes, but unfortuantly USC doesn't have to play a title game :)
  2. USC will lose to someone..

    quite possibly this weekend...

and I think one, one loss team will get in...
  3. Yep. I've adressed the similarities in another post. Continuing on DarkHornets comment, OU did not lose in the regular season that year. Only Alabama came close, and that was very early in the year, before they started raping their opponents.
  4. Wow, the differences b/w last year and Auburn and this year and LSU are so, so profound, I don't know where to start.

Auburn was off of everyone's national title radar this time last year, starting the season ranked in the mid-teens and universally expected to finish 2nd in the West to LSU.

LSU is mentioned by many as a title contender, with a few even picking them to make the Rose Bowl.

Auburn could not catch a powerful Oklahoma team that, just the year previously, destroyed 90% of the teams they played and was called, as late as November of 2003, possibly one of the greatest college teams in a generation.

LSU has to catch Texas, a horribly overrated team for most of the past decade led by a coach that many still openly question, even after last week's win over the Buckeyes.

From an athletic talent standpoint, most observers would say LSU has as much if not more talent than does Texas.

You couldn't find a person outside of south central Alabama who would say that about AU and OU last year (though, honestly, AU was pretty loaded, but we're talking perception here).

I haven't even mentioned the Katrina-inspired love LSU would get, which again plays to voter perceptions.

I could go on, but I can't spend the rest of the night listing the other 999 reasons why comparing LSU in 2005 to Auburn in 2004 is silly.
  5. I think Stanford could be a real sleeper... losing to UC-Davis like that... just to trick USC into thinking they suck this year.
  6. Dude, what are you talking about, Stanford sucks every year.
  7. So is Texas, probably more so than LSU is.

    I don't buy that.

Most all of the other things you mentioned are somewhat moot in this situation because when it comes time to decide if LSU will jump Texas, Auburn was in the same situation that LSU will be in at seasons end (if we go undefeated). I just don't see it happening, but that's your right to see it differently.
  8. LOL...allright, dude, we all do have a right to an opinion, so we'll have to agree to disagree. Just kinda weird to see an LSU fan argue so strongly *against* an undefeated LSU team making it to the Rose Bowl.

PS-You might want to check out the BCS-SOS thread, which suggests the computers are going to love the hell out of a 12-0 LSU, making #3 rankings in the human polls meaningless in terms of who goes to Pasadena if the top 3 all win out.
  9. Wait a minute. Y'all are all assuming Texas is going to beat OU in Norman this year. That's quite an assumption. :hihi:
