Or you could just nominate it for post of the year. http://www.tigerforums.com/showthread.php?t=53302
Just another black mark for us during recruiting. At least Miles acted instead of riding a fence and waiting for further things to develop. Certainly makes him look better now, but it's still bad. I hate that it happened to any player but even more so to an incoming freshman. Barksdale's age may have played a big part in why Giddens went after him in the first place. Even more embarrassing because Barksdale was the top recruit from his state.
I don't think it's a bad mark on the team at all. In fact it shows that when Miles identifies a bad apple he sends them packing. Recruits will know that he was kicked off even before this happened and realize that Miles will not tolerate this type of behavior. They will understand that unlike places like Florida State and Miami they will not have to put up with teammate that is headed for prison instead of the NFL. Barksdale will see the situation for what it is, a criminal gone wild. If he is happy at LSU recruits from Alabama will know it.
Nobody has mentioned that maybe Barksdale had it coming...? I don't know anything about the situation, and don't think Barksdale did something to warrant this, but it is possible.
NOW THAT'S PISSING!!! 1- The guy came all the way from Michigan and chose LSU from all other schools to get his jaw broken. That's a very bad recruiting image, damn you giddens. We get publicity for the past few days from the draft and now this!! 2- How the hell did he broke a DT's jaw? This guy is supposed to be a beast!!
Barksdale was the #1 DT in Michigan. Anyway, I agree. I don't see this a a black mark against LSU in recruiting. Giddens is not a member of the LSU Football team.
I am sure he said something or was messin with his Coolaid. But nothing wrong with taking a few jabs at the guy. Sounds to me that Giddens is a little bit of a loose cannon and Miles got this right so he can make up for him in recruits instead of him blowing up later in his carreer. Giddens just looks like the type that would get picked on for acting harder than he is and Barksdale was caught by surprise.
If Barksdale had taken the first swing & Giddens was only protecting himself. Being that Giddens is the one that got arrested & is already an admitted thief, it's not hard to assume Giddens is the one at fault here.
"There was a disagreement between two other people, words were exchanged and Giddens hit the victim," Rogé said. Rogé said LSUPD thinks Barksdale did not attempt to retaliate against Giddens. That sums it up for me..
