You're absolutely right. It appears the decision was made elsewhere.

Bonnette said all three players remained on scholarship and in school after the dismissal to protect the program's NCAA mandated Academic Progress Rating. Under that program schools are penalized when athletes leave the school while not in good standing.

I agree with the above post. Giddens never should have been allowed to stay on campus. Screw the APR. Players being kicked out of school for committing felonies shouldn't in anyway hurt the university to begin with. The universities should be commended for looking out for the safety of their other students....not punished by the NCAA. I think this would be a great example for someone to bring up and have the rules amended.

And you're not? All 15 of your posts here are either criticising LSU or arguing with BitterND about USC. You are simply a Condom troll, sir.

Nonsense. You just don't understand university/student relations. There were several reasons he is still a student. APR may have been a SID consideration for athletic department procedures; as athletes these players are public figures. But Giddings is a student above and beyond a former football team member. The University cannot publicly comment on a student's status because of strict privacy rules. Obviously he has been charged with several violations of the Code of Student Conduct, as well as the criminal charges. But its only been a few weeks and all the due process must take place. He hasn't been convicted yet, nor has judgement been completed for Conduct Code violations. LSU has no need to be hasty, but a real need to be thorough, private, legal, and exercise all due process.

Trolling rivals like you are trying to jump the gun to try to paint LSU as lax, when it is simply doing the legalities properly, so they will stand up in court. No one is fooled (OK, maybe Salty  ).

The main reason Giddings is still on campus and taking advantage of his right to be considered innocent until convicted, is because he wants to finish the semester. He has personal reasons that have nothing to do with the AD, but which must be respected by the university.

They shouldn't be commended OR punished. That's the point.

Long ago Red, I made a conscious decision to listen to people with my eyes. My eyes tell me Giddens has a funny way of SHOWING he's the slightest bit interested in academics. From USC BRDCSTR

No wonder your a USC fan. Your all screwed up.

Your too stupid to know that you listen with your ears and you see with your eyes.
