The backs and receivers know. Wing was the first kicker to hit pay dirt with a clean path, I'm guessing. I'm sure that meant no one ever stressed keepin his chit if the opportunity arose.
I watched it again. It was bogus. He actually just looked back to say "wow I'm actually going to score on this", not taunting at all. If you're interested, Mark May and Old Gramps are going to do that silly trial thing arguing whether this should be a penalty or not (whether the penalty should even exist).
As with the new rules, they were looking for a prime moment to stress the point. From hence forth, players are not allowed to enjoy the game. And for those in doubt, that was not a horse collar against Fla, the defender had all jersey.
It was taunting people, get over it! Anybody that thinks different needs to go back and watch the replay. Bull**** rule but still the rules. [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iPTVnbiix_Y"]LSU Punter Brad Wing Fake Punt for TD before penalty vs Florida 2011 - YouTube[/ame] That said, it was a great call and good run by our awesome punter...right up to the point where he showed his ass and got flagged. I have a feeling we will see it again...nextime hopefully without the taunt.
No doubt it was a taunt. I just know these past 6 weeks of games (ours and others) where I've seen worse that *hasn't* been called.
At least half the successful plays from scrimmage contain a taunt. And they called this. Unbelievable. Yet I do think they need to control the Terrell Owens type shananigans
That was a great head's up play by the kid. Took some guts to do it, but the risk was low and the reward was high. To me the rule is bullcrap. These are friggin' kids who are very emotional. That was not a taunt, that was pure jubilation by a punter who may never do that again in his life! The throat slash taunts, yes, call those. The penalty was BS, the play was incredible. Geaux Tigers!
