1. Yeah, me, too, but you have to admit that of the top 5 teams left after USC has now been exposed, there is only one who is the defending national champion and has also beaten a top 10 team (on the road no less, and a conference foe in the the top conf.) already this season. It doesn't really matter much if we were voted #1 right now in week 5, only what we end up at the season's end, but, as pointed out, if our letters were ND or OSU, we would be vaulted to #1 instantly. Point being LSU still does not get as much respect as USC, ND, or OSU despite the facts above, and will likely not be #1 after this weekend.

Despite the annoying national media, we can certainly take pride in our Tigers accomplishments this decade and counting. We'll just keep earning and building the respect the old fashioned way, by winning.
  2. Very good point.
  3. you guys try to pay attention. Ill slow down.

it didnt carry over yet we are the reigning bcs champs. its deserved but the slobfest is slow to adjust.

ill let sf and staceyo take over from here.
  4. Latest (or should I say lamest) excuse on USC boards is 'OSU would've beaten anyone last night'. Granted, they were fired up and played their best game of the year thus far, saying they would've beaten anyone is a stretch.

When USC closed to 21-14 after their first 2 3rd Q possessions, I pretty much thought they'd regrouped and would tie/take the lead shortly. Hell, even after the missed XP and premature Gatorade bath they gave Riley, I could picture them scoring, getting the onside kick, and scoring again. What I'm trying to say is, there were plenty of opportunities for them to win; even after falling behind 21-0.
  5. Exactly, but what I'm against is the USCs and Ohio States always getting credit before it is due.
  6. C'mon SF. You're old enough to understand the Halo and Horns effect.

Besides, it wouldn't be as fun to see these teams fail if they didn't get undue lovin' early in the season. (including me - I thought OSU was FAR better than they are...:nope:):):grin::rofl::thumb:
  7. Look at the key players on Southern Cal's team right now, and how big-time they were as recruits:

Mark Sanchez -- #1 pro-style QB recruit in the nation by rivals (2005), #1 QB recruit in the nation by scout (2005)
Joe McKnight -- #1 RB recruit in the nation by rivals (2007), #1 RB recruit in the nation by scout (2007)
OL Jeff Byers -- #1 C recruit in the nation by rivals (2004), #1 OL recruit in the nation by scout (2004)
DE Everson Griffen -- #1 DE recruit in the nation by rivals (2007), #1 DE recruit in the nation by scout (2007)
MLB Rey Maualuga -- #1 LB recruit int he nation by rivals (2005), #2 LB recruit in the nation by scout (2005)
S Taylor Mays -- #2 S recruit in the nation by rivals (2006), #2 S recruit in the nation by scout (2006)
LB Brian Cushing -- #5 OLB recruit in the nation by rivals (2005), #3 LB recruit in the nation by scout (2005)

    Compare to LSU:

Jarrett Lee -- #7 pro-style QB recruit in the nation by rivals (2007), #15 QB recruit in the nation by scout
Charles Scott -- #8 RB recruit in the nation by rivals (2006), #10 RB recruit in the nation by scout (2006)
Herman Johnson -- #3 OT recruit in the nation by rivals (2004), #2 OG recruit in the nation by scout
Ciron Black -- #12 OG recruit in the nation by rivals (2005), #31 OL recruit in the nation by scout
Brett Helms -- #16 OG recruit in the nation by rivals (2004), scout ??
Richard Dickson -- #6 TE recruit in the nation by rivals (2006), #13 TE recruit in the nation by scout
Brandon Lafell -- #32 WR recruit in the nation by rivals(2005), scout ??
Demetrius Byrd -- rivals NR (juco transfer), scout NR (juco transfer)
Ricky Jean-Francois -- #3 strongside DE recruit in the nation by rivals (2005), #30 DE by scout
Darry Beckwith -- #9 OLB recruit in the nation by rivals (2005), #53 LB by scout

Can't blame people for thinking how Southern Cal was so great, just like I can't blame people for slamming them for how bad they just choked
  8. Good stuff, John.
  9. For now, I am fine with the #5 or #6 ranking. It's a long season and we're in a great position.

I don't want the extra pressure of being #1 on our young QB's just yet. Let's allow them to grow and improve some more.

Besides, we have 2 of the teams that are ranked ahead of us on the schedule, and a really good 'Bama team too.

If we look strong and win today, and then go to Gainesville in a couple of weeks and win, what happens?

We'll get a TON of #1 votes, if not THE #1 vote.

Relax everyone. It's a long season, and we have a damn strong football team.

    We are in the mix!
