I reference the AP poll when seeking out opinion and I doubt I am the only one who does so. I also doubt I am the most influential person who watches what the AP says. But you are correct in saying the AP is no longer directly related to the BCS.
This thread is rediculous. I remember a few years back when OU was blowing everyone out but lost to Kansas State and still got to play in the Sugar Bowl and lost that game too. This is what happens when you play cupcakes.
What happens when you bake cupcakes = Media is impressed, almost keeps Florida from playing for the NC last year. More weight should be placed on big games, IMO. The media and voters are fickle. Only computers are capable of unbiased ranking, though a poorly designed set of computer rankings can screw the pooch as adequately as any human.
