They did mention that he was the starting 3rd baseman right before the play was run, so it's not like he can't throw a ball.

I have to agree on the play being a good call. If the gunner is covered then punt. He had him wide open so he put it out there. I do believe it was somehting they had intended to do because on the following punt, Fisher was in and not Jackson. So at least I think the call was there if it was available. I liked it...

well yeah I guess if anyone cared they would know that, you assume we care Mr. Ego. I certainly don't come here to see your "picks"

Tirk get over yourself dude. People come to this forum for other reasons than your picks and football knowledge.

( LIKE LSU stuff ) win lose or draw its just an opinion, this isn't a contest.

You get in a big huff with me because of a pass play on a fake punt? WTF man, does this really matter that much to you? if you think it's that important get a job coaching somewhere instead of posting on here and supposedly beating the bookies out of millions.

Just because my opinion differs from yours doesn't make either one of us wrong. That play is wrong to call in certain situations, but the score was 0-0 and ANOTHER opinion says it was a good time to call it. Work or not no matter what your boy ISLOST says. apparantly some others think it was a good time to call it too, since it is in the history books now.

I mean if you're another great coach that just hasn't been discovered yet, please tell me now and I'll acknowledge that, but until then it's just one play and a differnt outlook. Can you live with that?

Ballsy. Miles is F'n nuts. I loved it. After the ASU game, it looks like we might not be as good under Miles as we were under Saban, but dam it's gonna be exciting. Overall, I think it was an okay call. Very, very risky but Miles knew he needed some type of big play to get the momentum going for his team & took the chance. As people have pointed out, if the guy wasn't wide open he would have punted. Our line was giving him plenty of time to make the decision. And man, a little better placed throw & he runs that back for a touchdown... that would have been crazy. If it wouldn't have worked it would have been idiotic but like martin, i like it because it worked.

Yeah, it was a stupid call. I was in total disbelief that Miles would try such a thing. I was thinking of all the negative possibilities had the pass fallen incomplete or been intercepted. I cringed at the momentum it would give ASU and the hole the Tigers would be in. I don't remember ever seeing a team try pulling such a stunt in that situation. What were our coaches thinking?

Yet, I laughed and applauded and liked Miles all the more for it. For sure, Saban would have never tried it, EVER! But sometimes you just gotta take the bull by the horns. I hope he doesn't do it again but it was a gutsy call and it worked and I liked it. I guess count me in with martin in the "I liked it since it worked" camp.
