    Pretty interesting thread.

Just one comment: how many here thought Bob Stoops was (a) nuts or (b) brilliant for the fake punt from his side of the 50 in the Alabama game a few years back?

Best I can remember, that play---which was essential in helping them win the game---was hailed as being brilliant and ballsy.

I liked the call, by the way.

Honestly.... the moment the fake punt play happened, I thought only Tommy Tuberville would call something like that...

not sure that goes into the "positive thought" column.

I specifically though of the call TT made early in the Gator game @ the swamp a few years ago. The play was a bust and AU never recovered.

I also thought it was a bad call. Although it was called at the perfect time. Man no one anywhere expected that call. LSU will have 'em looking for it all year. No one expected it and no one will forget it.

Bad call. On your own 3 yd. line, 1st qtr.? Not necessary, little upside, like a first down you don't really need at the time, major downside.

We pulled it off, but in poker, how many you guys bet big drawing to an inside straight flush?

Ever see that happen in the pro's? NEVER, never will, its an absolute FOOL's call, even if it worked. :dis:

I'm not going to bother reading all of the posts on here b/c I don't have time and there's too many people bytching about everything.

I liked the call. Why? I'm not sure. I like coaches with balls to do crazy things. It's quite possible that they had practiced that a lot and had a good idea that it would work. And if it didn't, that may just mean that Miles has that much confidence in his offense to score regardless. It wasn't a "smart" call, but really, did anyone see that coming? Anybody? There were thousands and thousands of people watching that game all over the country. Did any one of them have any idea it was about to happen? Absolutely not. That's why it worked.

Good point. TT used to do that a lot more when he had inferior talent and it burned his butt a few times. You don't see this kind of stuff as much anymore, but I loved teh Riverboat Gambler persona.

One other thing since I know that TT isn't loved over here: He might be a SOB, but he is our SOB and I am behind him all the way.

Off a cliff, if need be....

Hey, Joker! What do you know about being a head coach. It was a gutsy call & worked! Shaddup! You only get to second guess IF it failed.

Looks like Tubby has some ""riverboat gambler"" compeTITion in the SEC.
