It's really too hard for me to narrow one game above all the rest that I've attended in Tiger Stadium. One that sticks out in my mind mostly for personal reasons was 1986 when LSU beat Notre Dame 21-19. Not only was it a great finish, but it was probably the last time I attended a game with my dad. Both my parents are LSU grads and used to take me and some of my other siblings to games quite often. I still remember sitting in Tiger Stadium in '79 watching the Tigers' heartbreaking losses to USC and Bama. I grew up listening to LSU football on the radio. My dad still kisses my mom every time the Tigers score. I've tried over the years to get him to come to a game but his arthritis really hampers him as far as walking or standing for a while. Hopefully, I can get him to a game soon.
This came up recently in a previous thread...at the time of the LSU/Florida game in 1997 rushing the field wasn't such a common thing - over 3 seasons at LSU I'd never seen that before. I waited to rush the field so I could watch everything and take it all in - and must admit I shed a tear. Florida traveled at the time with blank score cards that they'd print out after each victory and give to their fans - this was the first and only game in which they printed them up after a loss and distributed them to the opposing fans.
Well, see, now that people are listing *multiple* games... Here's my list of all-time favorites (in no particular order, done from memory only...a list of "favorites" should come from the heart w/ no fact-checking, even if the dates and scores are a little off): -1979 Tangerine Bowl/Hall of Fame/whatever bowl game it was: Cholly Mac's last game, a 34-10 win over Wake Forest (probabaly the last time they were in a bowl game...LOL). -Aforementioned game vs Florida St -ANY of the 62-0 wins over Tulane :hihi: -Oh my, the 2001 SEC CG win over Tennessee. I was watching the game at Big Woodrow's (Houston-area Tigers know about this place), and after we won, people started ripping open sugar packets out of pure joy. Couple this with a Texas loss earlier in the day that kept them out of the national title game and...well, it doesn't get any better than that. --That "lights out" win over Texas A&M (I forget the year, sometime in the 80s), when the lights went out in parts of Tiger Stadium in, what, the 3rd quarter. I think the final was 27-0. --Day of 2003 SEC CG. Man, what a day! I woke up, flipped on GameDay, then watch my favorite mo-fo of all time--okay, but he's cool in my book--Walter Reyes rip Notre Dame up one side and down the other in a Syracuse win that pretty much sealed an LSU place in the Sugar Bowl, regardless of what happened to OU later in the day. Oh yeah, LSU played on that day, too---I was so MF-ing psyched come kickoff. I had the audio feed going via Internet in my office, and I remember Jordy finishing his pregame comments by saying, "Now let's go win us a championship". I had every light off in the house, surround sound maxed out, big scree telling the whole story. I remember Verne Lundquist (I think) mentioning that LSU's running game "hadn't done much so far"...the instant before JV took it to the house in the first half. I also remember yelling at the TV, at the top of my lungs, "How's THAT for 'hadn't done much so far' MF-er?" as JV crossed the goal. Yeah, I liked that day, just a little bit. Anyways, as for "in-person" games: -The "earthquake game". No description or explanation necessary. :thumb:
