In the Tampa game, I think we threw to 11 different receivers. I never realized we even had 11 different receivers. So yes, Stecker in the slot is even another wrinkle in this oh-so-challenging offense. I'll go as far as to say the Saints have the best offense in the NFL right now. The only change I would like to see is Deuce get a few more carries. A little more ball control offense. We score too damn fast at times. Let's start to dominate time of possession. It will work wonders for your defense.
This just in, Drew Brees leads the NFL in yards (on pace for 4600+), and Marques Colston leads the NFL in receiving yards (on pace for 1550) and receiving TDs (on pace for 16). Saints now 2nd in the NFL averaging roughly 379 yards per game. Philly leads with roughly 389.
I see everyone saying that it was a fumble on that last drive, but I just watched the replay again from the front angle (ESPN highlites) and his right arm is down before the ball pops out. Just wish the ref woulda called it right from the getgo (that he was down) and then it would not have been overturned.
One more stat: Saints lead the league in yielding the fewest sacks. Only 9 in 9 games. Yes, Manning has been sacked 10 times, in case you're wondering. Brees has uncanny ability in the pocket to know WHEN and WHERE the pressure is coming from. Just agile enough, just quick enough, just plain smart enough. And the Saints pass protection is usually flawless. Saints know exactly when to max protect and when to send more receivers out into the play.
