Field goal attempt? Are you kidding?

How often have 63 yarders worked?

I felt the field goal attempt was a bad call. If David had been kicking into the wind, maybe. But against the wind, he had no chance. A pass in the end zone probably has a better chance of succeeding than a 63 yarder against the wind. Clark Kent would have trouble making that one.

The field goal attempt was a stupid call. But Truth be told the play call before that was worse. And really if JJ had improvised and ran he could have picked up 7 or 8 yards, making it 55 or 56 yarder. Still not a high percentage kick, but much more likely then a 63 yarder or a hail mary.

The chances of Colt making that field goal attempt in to the wind were close to zero. The chances of a hail mary "working" also close to zero. The chances of there being a penalty on the defense... far greater. You have to go with the hail mary, if for no other reason, for the defensive penalty possibility.
