finally got on the water yesterday for a few hours. nothing special just 75 white trout but dern they were good last night. Went on a buddy's boat he had just had some work done to and as we were docking up to put it back on the trailer the wind was pushing him into the pier pretty hard and went he went to back down a little the motor would not go into reverse or neutral instead stayed in forward and he smoked the pier with his $1800+ ipilot trolling motor. Crushed the bracket which while he should have have come in easier he didnt have much choice given the wind and the motor staying in gear and he had plenty of time to back down a little and slow her way down had the motor worked correctly. Got to lookin at the motor turns out the mechanic that worked on it left the grommet off that keeps the gear shift cable in place so it fell off and made the boat stay in forward so that was the cause of the whole thing. Stopped back in that place on the way home and dropped his boat back off for them to fix their screw up and he is currently in arguments with them over replacing the trolling motor bracket. Made me all the more glad I work on all my own stuff. Could have been bad......we regularly are at Horn Island hanging in big crowds with kids in the water around several idling boats etc.......happened there could have run over someone or had we been hooking onto a rig or jigging a shrimp boat etc could have been a much worse collision.
being lent and all had to bring a few fillets to work and fry em in the fry daddy in my classroom today.....kids begging for some....nope.
Man be careful. You're begging for a lawsuit. Grease burn, allergic reaction. Going to get in trouble with food services if you're feeding them before lunch.
