I kinda depends on which top 10 you are talking about. Putting Florida in the top 10 over Florida State is an absolute joke when you consider Florida State's running attack and defensive strength. I am leaning towards Florida State beating Miami this year.
that pick is terrible... Miami's QB hasn't played a down... We could start Perrilloux and still have a better record than Miami
My only point being.... If Miami takes out FSU early, they pretty much breeze until VT... that's a whole different schedule than LSU has. (I'll be pullin' for FSU, btw)
FSU doesn't even have VT on their schedule. I think that Leon Washington is going to have a huge game against the Canes and the FSU defense will hang tough. It won't be long until we find out... first game for both.
You can't fault any prognosticator from picking USC #1 and to repeat. The Trojans have all their major offensive weapons returning and their defense is pretty stout as well. They've lost only once in two years and their 2005 schedule is weak at best. USC plays in a weak conference that doesn't have a championship game, which gives them an advantage over the ACC, SEC, Big 12 teams because the PAC 10 winner doesn't have to play that extra game. Don't underestimate the affects a championship game has on the NC picture. Remember the only reason a writer or magazine would pick someone other than the consensus pick is for ratings or to sell magazines. SPORT magazine used to do this all the time...they would choose some team no one had as #1 just to get a rise out of everyone.
Miami number 1? MIAMI?!?! So much for the "quarterback controversy" that supposedly keeps teams down on rankings. It doesn't seem to be an issue for Miami or Florida St who will have QBs that have basically never thrown a pass. It doesn't seem to be an issue with Tennessee even though their QB numbers were no more impressive than ours.
