Didnt know where to put this but it was an interesting article. it was "Rodriguez to Bama." This came after previous weeks in which reports surfaced that had Jerri Spurrier--wife of Steve--looking at the real estate market in Tuscaloosa, and Nick Saban ready to leave the Miami Dolphins and come right back to the SEC... only at a program that's markedly resource-poor compared to the LSU juggernaut Saban built earlier in the decade. Even more laughably, these outlets have generated reports that have squarely contradicted any and all notions of basic common sense. Spurrier, a former reporter of Alabama violations during the Mike DuBose era and a man who tired of having ten-win seasons viewed as "underachieving" at Florida, would have had to abandon his senses to want the Bama job. For Saban to leave LSU but then resurface in Tuscaloosa would have displayed a similar lack of brain cells. http://cfn.scout.com/2/599223.html
I've been asking my self that same Question for two years, you would think the orchestrator of a offense that produced two Heisman winning QB's and a RB would be on every ones short list.
If you will recall Petrino was willing to leave Louisville to come to LSU but he jumped the gun before he was offered the job. He then had to go back and mend some fences. He has since signed some long term deal with them which may not mean anything at all.
we've corrected you on this twice before. Petrino was turned down by skip (or should i say skip was turned off) and the BOS after his less than subpar interview. ok make it 4 times now. the gumps have a short number of schollies left to offer this year so they can afford to take their time. If Saban ends up taking it by some miracle, it was worth it. if not, then what. I dont agree with getting someone if you can get little nickie but when that ship eventually sinks, you're pretty screwed. where they completely screwed up is their offer to rodriguez. 2 mill is a nice offer but not one he couldnt refuse. Sure he would have been the 3rd highest paid coach in the sec, blah blah. who cares. hes your guy, pay what the market demands he cant refuse. 3 mill and he never looks back. I said the day before he changed his mind that its not worth the hassle for what they were offering. Now they are left scuffling bigtime. You get the up and coming proven guy, establish yourself in recruiting from the get-go and start developing some stability right now. the value of a semi-stable bama football program is worth 100's of millions even in the short-run. His salary is peanuts in comparison. they are all still talking stoops, tressle and saban I see. Ill have to visit that board some more. the best quote "established guys like stoops dont normally make lateral moves". pure comedy.
