But we still get the kid on campus & those stars don't mean jack anymore.

i agree 100% early commitments are great, although we are 0 for are last 2 early commitments (Ward and Boudreaux). but speaking solely of player ranking, its not beneficial.

There is NO prize for recruiting rankings. You take commitments when you can to get the best players. If Rivals ranks you lower because of it . . .big deal.

NaDerris Ward? He committed to LSU?

Clarence Ward, the safety in 2005. He had some type of legal trouble or something like that, ended up commiting to FSU.

Now that recruiting is over what do you think really happenned with Alex Cate?

Did LSU back off and intentionaly wanted him to decommit or did they lose him by bringing in Tebow for a visit?

I think we will be ok without him but he was an early commit and it seemed LSU sort of handled this badly.

It was a combination of bad handling by LSU (We promised him no more QB recruiting) and Cate not wanting to play behind 3 more talented quarterbacks all having at least 2 more years of eligibility left.

The important thing is not the # of stars a kid has, but his athletic abilities. Let's keep our eyes on what's important.

Clarence was upset about Bama getting Chris Keys. Combine that with visiting FSU on the vaunted awards banquet weekend, and he was as sold to FSU as you could be.
