I think the loss of Harvin is gonna hurt the gaytors more than everyone is expecting. Harvin took alot of the shoulders of Tebow...he will have to be the whole offense again this year...ala 2007. Remember who won that year?
I'm curious to see exactly how much of the pro-style offense Meyer is actually going to implement this year. Regardless, I imagine that by the time we play them, he'll have realized what a bad idea that is/was. He's supposedly trying to showcase Tebow's QB skills to the pro scouts. But Tebow is not a pro-style QB, and I think that fact will only be underscored in this little experiment. Regardless, Harvin's absence will be huge. Aside from the actual yards he gained or plays that he made, he could change the game with just his mere presence on the field. He drew more attention than one guy ever should, and that fits perfectly into a system that is based almost entirely on misdirection. Now, I'm sure that Gator fans will have you believe that someone else is going to step right up and assume that role. But the truth is, players like Harvin don't come around that often, so I wouldn't bet on it. If Chavis can get the D to 'stay home,' then we could potentially give the Gators all they could handle. Meyer's system counts on the defenders being over-aggressive and abandoning their lanes, and it almost always works. But if the guys can be disciplined enough to let the play come to them, we'd be in a good position to keep them in check.
Florida has the perfect defense to stop our offense - speed and experience. On offense for UF- as odd as it seems, it starts with stopping the power running game up the middle. Can the guys do it...we'll see in a few weeks. It will be an awesome game, no doubt.
We shall see. They are tough defensively but If Jefferson picks up where he left off I don't think anybody will be able to stop us. We've got too many weapons at the skill positions behind an offensive line that CLM says is the best he's had since he's been at LSU (that's pretty good). The key to winning the game is to stop their offense and they can be stopped. They are not going to be as good as last year on offense. All my opinion, of course.
Harvin was a loss, to be sure...but if you recall it was Demps / Rainey that killed us last year in the option game. If we can defend the option better-and we should with a new, faster LB setup and a LB guru like Chavis-then we'll be okay. If not, we'll be in for another embarrassment.
Be interesting to see how this works out. They'll need a blocking back or tight end back there to protect Tebow. Hope they try this against us. .
This game will define much of how our season ends up. With many fans and the media penciling this in as a loss for us it will be exciting to watch this Tiger team surprise everyone.
Alright, I am going to go crazy here soon! You should hear these fans right now! They are actually saying they are going to beat everybody the way they beat the powerhouse Charleston Southern and Troy. The niceness has stopped and are claiming they will beat LSU by 30 at the least...I think I am going to have make that bet. And if I have to pay so be it, but I just have trouble thinking, that without any major injuries, they will beat us by 30 or more. Gosh sometimes I really, really hate living here!
