I don't see anybody bashing either QB. That certainly wasn't the point of the thread. We should be able to discuss the pros & cons, and the abilities and such of a player or coach without resorting to bashing, and it looks like the idiots are staying away from this thread... for now.
When JR was a recruit he was rated in the top five in the country. Most socalled experts that I heard said he was a raw project but had the most potential of any of those guys. That was a true assessment. He struggled his first three years but made steady improvement. Maybe his injured wrist kept him from reaching his potential last year. Only those close to the program or JR know the facts. I only know what I see. He makes consistant throws on target this year. The big debate started when fans who noticed his inconsitances last year would point them out. Immediatly they would all be blamed on the receivers inability to catch the ball. Miraculously as Russell became consistant the receivers hands got better. Now both Davis and Bowe are considered first round draft choices. In regard to Flynn, all LSU fans should hope the Miami game was a result of his play. Our success next year depends on it.
I pretty much completely agree with this, I may have misinterpreted your original post. Again, I agree with your assessment. But we only lost 3 game (AU, UGA, and Iowa) I'm not going to argue this one too much either. The only thing I will say is that early this year, JaMarcus was very good. From the 3rd quarter of the Tenn game on, he was excellent. My arguement is that since the Peach Bowl, I have yet to see you give Flynn credit for what he did in the Peach Bowl. You had all these other reasons for why we dominated the way we did. However you praise Russell for every victory that he's ever been a part of. JR is a great QB, and will be greatly missed when he leaves, but that is no reason to sell Flynn short. Yet for some reason, you decide to start a thread that could be misconstrued (sp?) as bashing the guy that may be our starter next year before we even find out if he's gonna be the starter. So I'll use another one of your arguements, give the guy a break will ya? Look at his winning percentage (1.000). What more does a guy have to do to get a little respect around here? Don't misinterpret this as me bashing Russell. I've never done that here. I've questioned him at times, but I've done that to every QB I have ever seen play, and probably will every one from here on out too.
Man, I thought it was only 3 too but I asked my roommate and he said 4 so I went with that. It's not that I haven't given Flynn any credit, its just that I haven't given him as much credit as everyone else. We dominated the Peach Bowl. Apparently, Flynn did everything the coaches asked of him. He made good decisions for the most part and made some good runs. But I enjoy debates and how much credit Flynn deserves for that game is a very debatable subject. We dominated that game for several reasons. I've always said that Flynn's performance was a part of it - just not as big of a part as fans thought. If you say so... I'm not a person of extremes, in general. I admit JaMarcus has flaws and can openly discuss where he has room to improve. I started this thread to call into question the original argument and the people who I argued with then. I made sure to include that I was not trying to bash him and nothing about my original post says anything derogatory about Flynn. If someone thought this was a bashing thread it was because of their own preconceived notions, not anything I wrote in the original post. Win more than 1?
Dude......you've seen your wife lately???? Or ya stayin away for a few days to make sure you didn't bring back from NOLA that gift that keeps on giving?
I was gonna give you a little more credit and chalk it up as a typo. Definitely debatable. I was mostly impressed with the extra chemistry the team seemed to play with that night. Was it something Flynn was doing/saying in the huddle? or Was that game just our night regardles of our QB? I have no idea, but I think it's a valid question to bring up. I should have included this sentence in the quote right above, but it's too late to change that now. Yeah, I know it just sounded better when I worded it like this Fair enough. He may have a chance at 14 next year.
It's the timing of this thread that I question. It comes off as firing one more round, knowing that your gun may be in the NFL next year. The subject is definitely wrthy of discussion, and I am enjoying the debate, just curious why do this on the day after a dominant Bowl performance?
When this was originally discussed, several theories were thrown out there. The Oline played better because they liked Flynn more (Flynn was good friends with a few of them). The running game was more successful because Flynn made better audibles (Flynn barely made any audibles). The team respected Flynn more (maybe a few guys, but not as a whole). His passes were easier to catch, which is why the WRs dropped less balls (eh, I guess. Bowe had just had lasik though). In the end, there really is no way to know for sure right now. If Flynn is the starter next year and the team looks that great every week - well then I'd have to reconsider.
Because JaMarcus just had a dominant bowl performance... and last year, after our team's dominant performance is when the subject was discussed.
