i assume the "camp arm" is similar to "dead arm" that pitchers get. no big deal. plenty of time for him to lay off of it for a while then get back to throwing to be in top form.

hhmmm, did you watch the spring game? meaningful playing time? i guess in scrimmages and the spring game, both qb's didn't have to face any quality defenses right? the question was asked why someone would make that comment, i gave my opinion which i think would benefit lsu playing him like that. if you think that mf's physical abilities are at par with rp then it doesn't matter who write an article you won't get it.

Well, he did say, "...if opponents seem vulnerable to such a rotation." while your thread title would imply a more Russell/Randle model from '04.

Flynn is entering his 5th year in the program, has plenty of reps over the years, and our staff is simply not wanting to over-work his arm in fall camp (something I doubt anyone had to worry about when JR was here).

Opponents have seen what Flynn can do--even if only for 1 games worth of Peach Bowl film--but it's enough to show them that he IS capable of carving up a defense. No one can say they've seen anything of RP--and that's to our advantage (if he's indeed ready).

Younger defenses that are aware of what he was coming out of high school may very well over-react to the run anytime RP steps on the field, but I don't think that Flynn and RP will be 50/50 in playing time, but I can see him getting a couple of specially designed plays each game and playing an awful lot in games against MTSU, Tulane and La Tech and early enough where it's meaningful time (i.e. they'll be enough time left on the clock for him to be able to throw the ball more as opposed to handing off the ball to kill the clock).

Nope. Nothing more than a glorified practice with out a full playbook, and guys with red shirts that can't be touched.

Yeah, you know like in an actual game. A game that counts in the standings. And not just in mop up time where the QB just hands the ball to the 4th string RB.

I'm sure Miles allowed Pelini to completely turn his defense loose, and wreak havoc on all his starters as well. Anyone who has ever been on a football team knows that doesn't happen.

I'm not saying your opinion is wrong, I'm saying that until RP sees MEANINGFUL (in a real game against a team TRYING to kill him) playing time, you have no way of knowing.

First off, I didn't say I thought Flynn's physical abilities are better, worse, or equal to RP.
We saw what Flynn did against Miami, and I think if he plays like that consistently, we'll have one hell of a year.
We've seen RP hand off to a few back-ups, and toss only a handfull of passes in games that were decided long before he steps on the field. He has yet to step on a field in a pressure situation against a defense who WANTS him to fail miserably, and will do anything to make that happen.
Judging on that, I have no clue who has better physical abilities, and neither do you.
What some guy writes in a paper is completely irrelevant and useless on a football field.
