Considering a win over Bama wouldn't have been enough to get LSU into the championship game anyway, a BCS Sugar bowl appearance would salvage the season.

Where in the world do you get this notion that LSU is the most talented team in the nation?

We certainly have the talent to match up with the best in the nation, but we don't have a monopoly on talent, by any means. There are at least 10 other teams that, year in and year out, recruit just as well as we do.

It sure isn't a new notion... I've been an LSU fan since the sixties and the one common thread decade after decade is that with the talent LSU get's, we should consistently win national championships. My guess is that fans are saying pretty much the same thing at many other schools.

Not only that, but we were 13-0 after playing 8 ranked teams, and made the NCG. Yeah, we shoulda had the crystal, but we weren't slackers.

Not saying they have a monopoly on talent just that in many peoples opinion LSU has had the talent over the past years and have had what some consider the most talented team in the country. Just the other day on the sports radio show in Houston and yes I know its just a bunch of sports radio host but they were discussing just this thing and they all seemed to agree that LSU over the past years has had some of the most talented teams. Even though LSU hasn't shown it they were of the opinion LSU could have the most talented team in college football this year. In discussion with some friends and again yes they are just friends and we are by no means professionals but some of them agreed LSU has been oozing with talent, far to much talent to not have more crystal than it does.

I just don't see it. We match up, talent-wise, with anyone, but we aren't more talented than the top teams.

As for the bolded potion of the post, that may very well have been true before attrition and injuries hit us hard this year. Right now, we're a talented, young squad that is finally gaining some experience. Perhaps if we still had the team we had in the spring, we could lay claim to maybe being the most talented team. We are NOT the same team now.

In time, this rough season of defections, dismissals, and injuries may help us out.

Look at the NFL draft. LSU is talented but NOT the most talented.

Err, how many championships has the SEC won in a row? Which SEC team has been consistently at or near the top? It seems almost criminal we haven't accomplished more, but even I have to give Les his due. We are stocked and there aren't many teams that can compete with us when we're on our game. I keep waiting for the let down, but Les hasn't petered off yet. Just imagine what we'll do with a solid QB.

When CLM was at OSU, they had good offensive production with Mike Gundy at OC. His first year at LSU with Jimbo, we had a good offense. Les just needs to make the right OC hire THIS off season. Crowton wasn't the right man and Krag never became OC and has a personal plate full. There's a Chavis-type hire out there for OC, CLM just has to go find him and hire him.
