...c'mon... As much as this guy DROVE ME CRAZY with the way he coached - Who do you say is a better basketball coach than him in LSU history? The guy was a great ambassador and recruiter. He was a CRAPPY game day coach. Who else are you gonna honor? Granted, he outstayed his welcome, but c'mon now!
As my Dad ALWAYS told me growing up.............. Leave something better than you found it.....Dale left us in RUINS!...
Brown coached at LSU for 25 years, went to two final 4s and 2 elite 8s. When he took the LSU job there was almost no interest in LSU basketball. He brought the likes of Shaq, Chris Jackson, Ethan Martin, John Williams, Cookie Man, Rudy Macklin and many others to Baton Rouge. Dale Brown has more wins over Kentucky than any other SEC coach. No, he wasn't a good bench coach and yes he did lose it toward the end. Does he deserve to be honored? Damn right he does. Its just hard to believe that there are Tiger fans so petty that they would deny him that honor.
I'm for it........ It didn't end the way anyone would've liked it too. But Dale left his mark on LSU and it was a positive one except for the little black mark in the end... All you anti Dale fans need to remember that the NCAA was after him for years and couldn't get him for anything..... LSU was given an unjustified harsher sentence because they did not like Dale Brown. There were less harsh sentences given to UM and other programs with more serious violations. When I think of Dale Brown and LSU basketball thier are a lot of good memories...... vs Georgetown, UNLV, LMU,SEC play just a few of the good memories btw.. I don't understand the mentality of how anyone could be against it. He out lasted how many other coaches in football and every other sport at LSU and was successful. His teams always fought and had character. He never whined about not being in the top 25 either......
At least the guy was a class act and had the B*LLS to call out Bobby Knight... ...and who else would EVER ask someone in a crowded room "Have you ever masturbated?"
Dale Brown had balls and coached with intensity. Shaq, Chris Jackson and the amount of time spent at LSU are enough for an honor like this. When he discovered Shaq he couldn't even jump over a pencil (Dale actually said that) - ask Shaq if Dale Brown deserves this award and I bet you reconsider.
You're an idiot. How could you possibly be against giving him one night of recognition. I don't care how you personally feel about him, he gave 25 years of his life to LSU. People light you make me sick.
